The Russian President Vladimir Putin will receive the Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani for a meeting lasting two days in Moscow on October 10 and 11, according to Reuters.
Al-Sudani will leave Iraq on October 9, have a meeting with Putin on October 10, and attend business talks on October 11.
On September 21, the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, said that Al-Sudani intended to travel to Russia before the end of the year.
Recently, Iraq and Russia have been developing their ties more and more. Haider Hanoun, the Head of the Federal Commission of Integrity, announced earlier this week that a deal had been reached with Russia to fight corruption and recoup money that had been illegally transferred overseas.
Al-Sudani also hosted Igor Levitin (the Russian President’s assistant) and a delegation on October 3 in Baghdad, Iraq. During the meeting, they talked about the two nations’ bilateral relations. The Iraqi PM’s planned trip to Moscow was also discussed, as were initiatives to further cooperation in different areas, particularly in economics and politics.
