Turkish warplanes strike Kurdish sites for a second time in three days after a suicide attack in Ankara.
Turkish forces have conducted new air strikes in northern Iraq and destroyed 16 targets of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), its Ministry of National Defence says.
The operations were conducted in the Metina, Gara, Hakurk, Qandil and Asos regions at 8pm (17:00 GMT) on Tuesday, the ministry said, adding that every measure was taken to avoid harm to civilians and the environment.
The raids across Turkey’s predominantly Kurdish southeast came two days after a branch of the PKK – listed as a terror group by Turkey and its Western allies – claimed responsibility for Sunday’s attack.
Turkish police shot dead one of the attackers while the other died in an apparent suicide blast outside Turkey’s interior ministry.
The strike came hours before President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended an opening session of parliament.
